Helping families in El Salvador

I am using my Cross Country Ski Racing to raise money for two families in El Salvador.  I am wiring all the money I raise directly to the families.

The information I have currently about the families is posted below.

In the first family, the father usually works helping the mother, Julie, support the four daughters who are attending school.  Recently though, the father has been unable to work due to health issues and during the month of December Julie experienced complete unemployment which left the family going hungry. Cristina, the lady who put me in touch with these families, usually employs Julia two days a week, but Cristina is moving into a new office and won't be able to employ Julia anymore.

The mother of the second family earns about $8 a day (about $160 a month) supporting her 15, 13, 11, and 9-year-old boys.  We are hoping that the money given to this family will go into savings which the boys will be able to use when they begin attending university.

El Salvador is the smallest country in Central America, and has the highest density of population in the region. Its capital is San Salvador.  The US Dollar is currently replacing the previously used Salvadorian colon (SVC).  The colon is no longer being printed in an effort to make the dollar the only currency circulating in El Salvador.
